{"id":264,"date":"2019-10-23T12:54:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T11:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bracknellvets.co.uk\/news\/?p=264"},"modified":"2026-03-23T15:22:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T15:22:09","slug":"bracknell-vet-launches-plastic-free-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bracknellvets.co.uk\/news\/bracknell-vet-launches-plastic-free-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Bracknell vet launches &#8216;plastic free&#8217; partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Bracknell veterinary hospital is celebrating National Recycling Week (September 23-29) by pledging to reduce plastic waste in its practice.<\/p>\n<p>Moor Cottage Veterinary Hospital, in Binfield, has become a \u2018plastic free business champion\u2019 through the Surfers Against Sewage initiative.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-265\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bracknellvets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Moor-Cottage-oct-news-large_1.jpg\" alt=\"bracknell-vets-goes-plastic-free\" width=\"750\" height=\"499\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bracknellvets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Moor-Cottage-oct-news-large_1.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.bracknellvets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Moor-Cottage-oct-news-large_1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Surfers Against Sewage is a charity which works with local communities to fight the plastic pollution crisis.<br \/>\nThe aim of the initiative is to avoid or remove single-use plastics, such as bottles, disposable coffee cups, bathroom plastics and food packaging.<\/p>\n<p>Moor Cottage has been praised on social media for taking action and Claire Meesters, practice manager at Moor Cottage, is urging other vet practices to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cAs a veterinary hospital, we are subjected to single-use plastics daily, but we have a responsibility to do our part for the environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been recycling paper, plastic and food waste where we can and made the switch to using glass bottles for milk more than a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge our customers to either recycle their food pouches or bring them to us, which we send to our local Terracycle drop-off point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also made the switch to using eco-friendly toilet roll and provide bamboo dog bowls and cotton buds in our hospital, as well as recycled plastic buster collars and syringes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about Surfers Against Sewage, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.sas.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Bracknell veterinary hospital is celebrating National Recycling Week (September 23-29) by pledging to reduce plastic waste in its practice.
